What is a pro rata calculation?
Pro rata divides a total in proportion to each party's share. If two people split $100 with shares of 3 and 2, the first owes $60 and the second $40.
When do I use pro rata?
Splitting rent by room size, dividing a shared bill, prorating a salary for partial-month work, allocating investment returns, calculating insurance refunds.
